Sqadron 751 receives “Merit and Excellence” award

Squadron 751 – ‘Pumas’, responsible for countless rescues and medical transports, was awarded the ‘Merit and Excellence’ prize at an event held on 25 October at the Ruy de Carvalho Auditorium in Carnaxide, as part of the ‘Júlio César Andrino Awards’.

The Commander of Squadron 751 – ‘Pumas’, Major João Almeida, received the award from INEM, winner of the award in the 2024 edition, with this symbolic act serving as a passing of the baton.

The award is the result of a scoring process by a jury composed of seven professionals in the fields of arts, culture and medicine, with no military involvement in the nomination or decision, which evaluates and attests to the public work of the nominees.

The event was attended by, among others, the Mayor of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, and the 2nd Air Commander, Major General António Moldão.

This distinction is further proof of the work carried out by the ‘Pumas’ and the Air Force in safeguarding human life.

Since its creation, Squadron 751 - ‘Pumas’ has saved more than 5,000 lives, continuing to honour the motto ‘So that others may live’ every day!
