Air Force participates in 5+5 Defence Initiative on drone use

Two Air Force personnel participated in a seminar under the 5+5 Defence Initiative, which took place in Marrakesh between 21 and 25 October.

This seminar, entitled ‘Using drones in the 5+5 Space: Security Challenges’, sought to develop a common understanding of how to use this modern technology safely and in a disciplined manner, through a comprehensive approach that integrates technical, security and legal dimensions.

The seminar also addressed issues related to security and aviation safety; the regulatory and legal framework for operating drones, as well as cyber challenges that may threaten their use and ways to develop counter-defence capabilities.

The 5+5 Defence Initiative is part of a multilateral forum for dialogue on security and defence between five European countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Malta) and five African countries (Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Mauritania). Its objectives are to promote mutual trust and collaboration between the participating countries.
