From 30 September to 14 November, the 21st edition of National Defence Day took place at Air Base No. 1 in Sintra, with the participation of thousands of young people from various municipalities in the district of Lisbon. 

In this context, Air Base No. 1 held a series of activities, such as lectures, cinematic and basic life support demonstrations, visits to the control tower and aircraft maintenance hangar, firefighting and assistance and rescue vehicles, and a visit to the Air Museum. 

National Defence Day is a compulsory military and civic duty for all Portuguese citizens who turn 18, aimed at raising awareness of national defence issues and informing them about the missions, organisation and importance of the Armed Forces.
