The Portuguese Air Force has been conducting training and exercise activities in High Frequency (HF) communications at Air Command, in collaboration with the NATO Communications and Information (NCI) Academy, reinforcing international cooperation and operational capability in this domain.

This partnership aims to ensure the ability to operate through secure long-range communications, promoting interoperability in multinational environments, particularly within the NATO framework.

In this context, monthly HF communications exercises are conducted, involving participants from different countries, enabling the testing and validation of secure voice and data transmission in demanding and degraded operational scenarios.

These activities are carried out on a continuous basis at Air Command, under the responsibility of the Mobile Command and Control Squadron, and ensure the active involvement of Portuguese Air Force personnel, contributing to enhanced readiness and operational capability.

This collaboration also supports the development and improvement of NCI Academy training solutions, bringing the training environment closer to real operational scenarios.

Participation in these initiatives demonstrates the Portuguese Air Force’s commitment to strengthening capabilities and actively contributing to collective security within NATO.
