Flag Oath Ceremony

Today, 24 October, was a memorable day in the lives of 99 new military personnel who swore to ‘honour and defend the Fatherland’ during the Flag Oath Ceremony for Basic Training 02/2025, held at the Air Force Military and Technical Training Centre (CFMTFA) in Ota.

The ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Lieutenant General António Nascimento, representing the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General João Cartaxo Alves.

Beginning on 22 September, Basic Training transforms lives, where for five weeks recruits learn to overcome their limits, build bonds and discover the true meaning of serving their country. The solemn act of the Flag Oath is the culmination of all the effort and dedication during the passage of the 99 new military personnel who have now completed basic training (recruit) and are beginning a new stage, complementary training.

The ceremony included the traditional awarding of prizes to the trainees who distinguished themselves most during Basic Training, as well as the reading of the military duties set out in the Military Discipline Regulations. Prizes were awarded to the best trainees in the categories of military merit, theoretical tests, physical tests and practical tests.
